Lamia

Dark Angel

CD (2004) · CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE

The name Lamia comes from ancient Greek mythology. Lamia was a Lybian queen who fell in love with the God Zeus. When learning of her husband's adultery, the Goddess Hera killed Lamia's children and deformed her into a monster, cursed to walk the earth forever unable to close her eyes. Forced to watch other mothers with their children, Lamia would steal the children to drink their blood. The band Lamia, took this myth and transformed it into a musical venture. Fusing sacred, antique music with electronics, Lamia has produced a hybrid that completely balances the esthetics of both variations of musical styles. Featuring female vocals, throbbing electronics, and classical instruments (such as harpsichords and organs), Lamia is pushing the envelope and trudging into under developed realms. This new project from Argentina debuts with a new album offering pure and hard EBM with structures of classical music. The music style can be compared to a mixture of Die Form, Feindflug, and Qntal - a strange description, but the album is worth listening to! On Metropolis.
