Dope Stars Inc.

Listen & Buy

Dope Stars Inc. was founded in May 2003 by Victor Love in Rome Italy. Mixing industrial beats, acid synths and distorted sounds with a bratty rock’n roll attitude, the band caught the interest of the international press with their debut self-produced EP 10.000 Watts Of Artificial Pleasures. Straight after its release, DSI released two albums on Trisol in Europe, Neuromance in 2005 and Gigahearts in 2006.

The Dope Stars Inc. infection grew throughout the years and spawned a horde of loyal followers which spread the DSI virus over communities and global networks. Three songs by Dope Stars Inc. have even appeared on the Saw soundtracks.

DSI toured extensively between 2005 and 2008. Performing on stages all across Europe supporting bands such as London After Midnight, ASP, Apoptygma Berzerk, Nightwish, Combichrist, and Kirlian Camera, DSI has also appeared at the biggest European festivals (Mera Luna, Wave Gotik Treffen, Amphi Festival, Summer Darkness, On A Dark Winter Night, Infest UK, and Trash Fest Finland).

For 2009, Dope Stars Inc. signed to Metropolis Records for North America and released the Criminal Intents/Morning Star EP in April as a precursor to their upcoming album. The double EP was produced, recorded, and mixed by Victor Love at Subsound Studio and features two tracks from the upcoming album and two additional exclusive tracks along with a massive load of remixes by bands such as KMFDM, Mortiis, Gothminister, Spiritual Front and many more. The EP also featured a never before released cover version of Clan of Xymox’s “Jasmine and Rose” and the original demo version of “Vyperpunk.” With the next album, entitled 21st Century Slave, Dope Stars Inc. front man Victor Love and company continue to rail against massive industrialization, and corporate greed. With 21st Century Slave, Dope Stars Inc. created a cohesive, thematic statement of their beliefs. The opening track “Omegadrones” brought to mind the writings of Phillip K. Dick and underground cyberpunk subculture with its Blade Runner inspired themes which perfectly sets the tone for the entire album. The tracks “Criminal Intents” and “Morning Star” stormed dance floors worldwide, and gave the listener only a glimpse of what Dope Stars Inc. had to offer with 21st Century Slave.
